Over a decade ago, The Claptomaniacs formed on the Sunshine Coast, keen to play tribute to guitar legend Eric Clapton, and they keep coming back to their Clapton roots, particularly at the request of hard-core Clapton fans. Over the last few years, they have sold out several of these unique, multimodal concert-events, at the beautiful Majestic Theatre in Pomona, focusing exclusively on the hits of Eric Clapton. Now they are bringing the show to the Glasshouse hinterland, to the Maleny RSL. On Saturday August 16, the program will present Clapton's music; from 1968 in the Yardbirds, blues associations with the likes of John Mayall, the supergroup Cream, Blind Faith and onwards through his solo career and multiple other collaborations (JJ Cale etc), with classics like Layla, Tears in Heaven, Change the World, I Shot the Sheriff and many more, with a colourful slide show that fills in the back-story of the songs.
