2025 Beginners Glaze Making Course

10 Weeks
Tutored by Marc Sauvage
This course is designed for students with little or no experience in making their own glazes. In weekly sessions, students will be taught how to mix, process and apply glazes from existing recipes as well as blend multiple glazes to create new combinations. In addition, the Beginners Glaze Making Course, will cover triaxial and quadriaxial glaze blends, explore the melting temperatures of a range of ceramic raw materials, and investigate and test glazes on a number of different mid-fire clays.
On completion, through a process of testing, observation, discussion, and group sharing of results, all participants should have developed a number of practical and usable glazes which will help to fuel further interest in glaze development for their creative practice.
This course is the precursor to our Intermediate Glaze Making course.
