Family therapy in the context of family law proceedings addresses the psychological, emotional and relational issues amongst family members that have been identified as having a direct impact on the child who is in center of the parental conflict and custody dispute.This session will provide:• An overview of traditional family therapy.
• An outline of reportable and non-reportable family therapy.
• The challenges faced by clinician’s applying traditional family therapy approaches in the context of family law proceedings.
• Information about when family therapy may be an appropriate intervention for families presenting in the family law space and discussion about how earlier intervention can lead to greater success.
