Castlefield Cup is a competitive tournament run by Sandringham SC for MiniRoos U8-U11 age groups.
Local clubs are invited to enter teams in the following age groups U8, U9, U10 and U11 Boys and U8, U9, U10 and U11 Girls.
8 teams compete in each age group. Teams play a minimum of 3 matches in the round robin section, with winners and seconds going through to semis and then semi-winners go through to finals.
This year the cup will be held on Saturday 13th September at our Spring St grounds.
Sandringham SC enters representative teams in each of the age groups. These representative teams are formed through a trial process.
The purpose of these trials is to select squads of the strongest players in each age group (under 8 and 9 squads will comprise of a maximum of 10 players, and under 10 and 11 squads having a maximum of 12 players). We will also be selecting a few extra players in each age group who will train with the team and be emergencies in case of illness or injury prior to the day.
NOTE: During the season we allow players to play up an age group - we do not allow this at Castlefield - players MUST trial and play in the correct age based on their date of birth. Players must be turning 8-11 this year to be eligible to trial. We will be checking DOB for all trial registered players. This enables those players of U11 age the ability to represent the club for their last year in the Miniroos age groups.
U8s are born 2017
U9s are born 2016
U10s are born 2015
U11s are born 2014
Trial Dates:
Monday 4th August and Monday 11th August
Please note that those trialling will be required to attend BOTH trials. If you are unable to attend one or both of the trials, but would like to be considered you must still register for trials and MUST let us know by email PRIOR to the commencement of the trials - cases will be considered on an individual basis.
Times:
U8 Boys & U8/9 Girls: Registration at 4:45pm for a PROMPT 5:00pm start (finish at 6:00pm)
U9 Boys & U10 Boys: Registration at 6:00pm for a PROMPT 6:15pm start (finish at 7:15pm)
U11 Boys & U10/11 Girls: Registration at 7:15pm for a PROMPT 7:30pm start (finish at 8:30pm)
Duration: The trials will last for approx 1 hour.
Venue: Tjilatjirrin Reserve Spring Street, Sandringham.
When you arrive at the grounds, please make your way to the club rooms to mark your child's attendance & receive a numbered bib (for identification purposes).
Players to wear Shin guards and bring a drink bottle.
PLEASE NOTE that Shin Guards are compulsory. Unfortunately, anyone without Shin Guards will be unable to participate.
Teams will be announced by Friday 15th August and training will commence from Monday 18th August.
