Networking is an important tool that when it is done well can help you build new collaborations, connect with peers and even get a new job! There are some key differences between those who network well and make an impression and those who could do better. It is also important to communicate your idea and research with community representatives and other consumers and stakeholders. This communication style varies from academic pitches and is crucial for successful completion of a research project and the translation of this research. In this session you will learn the basics of consumer interaction throughout your research project.
We'll cover the following learning objectives:
- Find out how you engage with others and then use this information to make better connections with others;
- Develop and practice your own pitch;
- Learn how to change your pitch for different scenarios; and
- Learn how to engage with the community and other research stakeholders
Facilitated by Pauline Zaenker and Travis Cruickshank, Centre for Precision Health and School of Medical and Health Sciences.
