Successful auditionees will be notified by phone call. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email. A public announcement will go out to the SLAMS MTC social media accounts in the week following the casting process. We ask that you refrain from posting on social media or discussing casting decisions until it has been announced publicly.
Cast Responsibilities if successfully cast:
- To pay a cast fee of $60, which is a contribution used to fund the provision of rehearsal materials, company membership and insurance. We seek to have payments finalized on the first scheduled rehearsal.
- Expected to support and promote any fundraising activity associated with the production such as chocolate drives, trivia nights and local community function performances.
- Required to actively promote the show (amongst friends, relatives, work colleagues etc.) and sell tickets. The management committee will implement incentives to encourage the cast to sell tickets – more to follow on that during the rehearsal period.
- Must attend all rehearsals (unless advised by the Production Team that they are not required at a nominated rehearsal) and behave in a professional manner. If a cast member is absent from more than three rehearsals for which they were required to attend, or is for any reason considered unfit to perform (by the SLAMS Management Committee and/or Production Team), the SLAMS Management Committee reserves the right to ask the cast member to step out of the production. Rehearsals will primarily be Thursday nights (7.30pm till 10.30pm) and Sundays (1pm till 5pm).
- Health and safety regulations require cast to provide their own personal stage make-up. SLAMS will, whenever possible, purchase stage make-up materials on behalf of cast at discount rates.
- In general, cast members will be required to provide their own costumes and appropriate accessories, e.g. shoes. Whenever possible, SLAMS will provide costumes from stock and may subsidize purchase or hire of costume materials.
- Cast members are required to assist ‘behind the scenes’ in suitable areas of the production, this includes set building, painting, prop making, costume making and show promotion.
- All cast members will occasionally be called upon to assist the set builders with set assembly (e.g. lifting of heavy components of the set) during phases of the set construction.
