Join us for an in conversation event with touring author Alejandra Martinez. Alejandra's recently released novel Salsa in the Suburbs, is a story about a Latin-American family in Australia, each member of the family reckoning with the tension between the rich meaning they draw from their heritage and the human need for new experiences. Alejandra is an Australian-Uruguayan writer based in the Blue Mountains, NSW.Alejandra will be joined in conversation by Tasmanian author Nadia Mahouri, who's recent novel Half Truth explores the desire to understand how you belong through the journey of a new mother who travels from Tasmania to Morocco to explore her roots and identity.
'Salsa in the Suburbs is a stunning and original overview of Latinx communities in both America and Australia, exploring how the family escape the civic-military dictatorship in the 1970s and find a home among the South American community of Western Sydney'.
