National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. We will be celebrating National Science Week during Storytime this week.

“The day after my birthday party Kipper found a soggy blue balloon in the garden. Which was odd because the balloons at my party were red and white. I blew it up”. The Blue Balloon is a story about an ordinary balloon that turns out to have magical powers. This book encourages children to think creatively and start to wonder if balloons to have such powers.
There is a sense of excitement and engagement in this story. Each page reveals a new unexpected change in the balloon. The surprise factor in this book builds anticipation and provides children the opportunity to make predictions and build their own imagination.
