States of Mind with Geoff Dawson
WHAT: Psychedelics, such as LSD, psilocybin, DMT, which were legally banned in the 1970s, are making a renaissance. Some Western people claim psychedelics were a catalyst that brought them to Buddhist meditation. Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy was recently legally introduced in Australia and is getting favourable publicity. The media is reporting widespread, underground use of these drugs for spiritual, therapeutic and recreational purposes. In this seminar titled 'States of Mind: Buddhism, Psychotherapy, and Psychedelics', clinical psychologist and Buddhist Dharma teacher, Geoff Dawson, will explore psychedelics’ potential benefits and harm. He will also discuss recent neurological research on how these chemicals act on the mind/ brain.
This event will be offered both online via Zoom and in-person at the Crows Nest Centre, NSW
