FEA as a Tool in Materials and Failure Investigation
This presentation aims to show a few cases on the application of finite element analysis in simple to moderate cases of failure investigations, where it helped to reach conclusion by visualizing a hypothesis, ruling out possible loading conditions which are not credible, as well as confirming whether a material issue is the primary cause of failure. Cases range from bolting of conveyor pulleys, pressure handling equipment, power generation water pre-heater, and a heater in a chemical process refinery.
