Combining Traditional and Contemporary Printmaking

About
In this 2 Day Workshop with Master Printmaker, Francesco Geronazzo, you will explore deeply the combinations of traditional and experimental methods of printmaking. Combining traditional processes like drypoint and mezzotint with other more contemporary techniques, will help you to build up a better understanding of layering, that you can apply in your own practice. All materials will be supplied. This workshop is for intermediate and advanced printmakers, 18yrs plus.
DAY ONE: this first day will focus on generating plates from a variety of different materials like zinc, polycarbonate, cardboard and tetra pack.
DAY TWO: We will be Proofing what we made (with different colours as well) on the first day to help us understand where we can improve and explore further the outcomes of layering and combining with mono printing, gum print and other pictorial methods to generate unique state prints. Generating tonal effects without the use of any chemicals is the aim of this class. Being able to combine the drawing component of the process (dry point with unconventional tools as well) with darker areas and details (carborundum) will be the focus of the workshop. This makes it possible to work with larger plates while keeping the environment safe and sound . NON TOXIC print making is what we love and the direction we take as much as we can.
