The Habit Lab for Part-time PhDs

The Habit Lab for Part-time PhDs

Tiny Habits® for Real Life: A Smarter Way to Make Progress
Tuesday 26 August 2025 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM (UTC+08)

You’re juggling research with work, family, deadlines, and everything else in between. Consistency, focus and follow-through? That’s the part no one teaches you.

This workshop gives you a science-backed daily system to reduce overwhelm, make meaningful progress, and take control of your time, even when your capacity is limited.

What to expect
You’ll learn how to design a personal habit system that works with your life, not against it, using the evidence-based Tiny Habits® method.

Led by a certified Tiny Habits® practitioner, this session gives you a practical, low-pressure approach to staying consistent, even when your time and energy are limited.

You’ll walk away with:

  • A simple method to build habits using your existing routine
  • Tools to beat procrastination, manage energy, and focus when it counts
  • A one-page plan no matter what stage of candidature you’re at, to keep your research moving, and even on low-capacity days
  • A mindset shift - from pressure and perfection to practical progress
  • Follow-up support through a virtual drop-in clinic for accountability and coaching

This is not about doing more. It’s about doing what matters most, in a way that actually works for you.

Who is this for?
This workhop is designed with part-time research candidates in mind, however, some full-time students may find it useful if they are also juggling research with work, family, deadlines, and everything else in between.

Places are limited for this event. If you book a place but can no longer attend, please contact researcher.development@ecu.edu.au with as much notice as possible so that we can offer places to people on the waiting list.
