This workshop provides practical, evidence-informed strategies to support autistic students' attendance and engagement in mainstream primary settings.Grounded in behavioural science and informed by lived experience research, the workshop explores collaborative, proactive approaches which promote participation, connection and engagement in school.
Participants will explore:
- Early signs of school avoidance (school refusal).
- Function-based thinking to adapt environments and expectations.
- Supports that honour student autonomy and individual needs.
- Collaborative strategies for working with families.
This session is ideal for teachers, education support staff, wellbeing coordinators, and school leaders who are seeking practical tools backed by theory and real-world understanding.
