Guest Speaker: Lisa Bellear's photography and activism

Join us as we hear from guest speaker, Kim Kruger, who is an academic at Victoria University. She was one of the curators of the Koorie Heritage Trust exhibition 'Close to You: The Lisa Bellear Picture Show' (alongside noted artists Destiny Deacon and Virginia Fraser), and is Lisa Bellear's cousin.Lisa Bellear was a Minjungbul, Goernpil, Noonuccal and South Sea Islander woman from Minjerribah, and active as an artist, academic and activist. Her photographs documented over a quarter of a century of Indigenous community life including protest marches, community celebrations, portraits, signs and graffiti, and personal photographs. Photographs by Lisa Bellear are displayed throughout Lisa Bellear House. Learn more about Lisa's thinking and purpose behind the images, as well as the important moments she captured, in this talk being hosted in the lead up to the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples.
