On December 15th, 2024, our lives changed forever. My husband, Olly, attempted to take his own life. At the time, I was heavily pregnant with our daughter. We were raising our beautiful little boy, Ralph, who was just two years old.Olly survived, but the damage is severe. He suffered a hypoxic brain injury caused by a lack of oxygen to his brain.
Olly had been struggling with his mental health for some time. Like so many men, he found it difficult to talk about how he was feeling, to ask for help, or to show vulnerability. He was the primary provider for our family and was running his own business, which he poured everything into. Since his injury, I’ve had to make the heartbreaking decision to close the business. It was something he was so proud of, and letting it go has felt like another layer of loss.
