Matt Withers is an ambassador for Australian music, a well-established pedagogue, performer and mentor for musicians globally. His career has seen him perform with esteemed artists including Sally Whitwell, Acacia Quartet, William Barton, and national orchestras whilst maintaining strong commitments in the leading Australian chamber music group Guitar Trek alongside Timothy Kain AM.
With a dozen solo and chamber commercial releases on the likes of Naxos Records, ABC Classics, Amica Records (Aus) and Soundset Recordings (USA), Matt has a strong history of performing, recording and commissioning Australian works from distinguished composers and his generational peers.
Matt’s new program Evolution will feature classic works from the guitar’s colourful musical history by Dowland, Bach, Paganini, Tárrega, Albeniz, Barrios and more, as well as premiere brand-new works from the Australian Music Composition Competition by Nat Bartsch, Natalie Nicolas and Ray Lin.
Limited seating for 50 guests in a lovely home with a performance space and comfortable seating. The performance will begin at 6pm and will be followed by dinner and drinks (provided) and a chance to mingle.
Hosts Bill and Libby want to offer opportunities for Canberra audiences to share their passion for the classical guitar, its varied and interesting repertoire and for the very high level of talent present in the region.
