The Sound of Music tells the story of impetuous novice nun, Maria, who is unexpectedly seconded to the home of the imposing widower, Captain von Trapp, to serve as governess to his seven children. Under the shadow of the looming Anschluss, Maria and the Von Trapp family find love and connection through music, but with the invasion of Nazi Germany rapidly approaching, can they find the courage for resistance?From first-time director, Chloe Musgrove, the Caloundra Chorale & Theatre Company presents a new, intimate production of the 1959 Broadway classic. Music and lyrics by the unparalleled duo, Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. Suggested by the memoir, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers, by Maria Augusta von Trapp. This production marks the 60th anniversary of the celebrated film.
