Melbourne-based Irish banjo player and singer Maggie Carty presents an intimate solo performance of her debut album Ebb & Flow at the Irish Club of WA, Perth on Saturday 23 August 2025. Audiences are invited on a personal musical journey through Irish folk tradition, reimagined with Australian folk influences, bluesy undertones, and transcontinental soul.
Originally from Boyle, County Roscommon, Maggie is a fourth-generation musician who brings a fresh female voice to the tradition. Now based in Naarm (Melbourne), she blends rhythm-driven banjo with expressive vocals, drawing from Americana and blues. Since moving to Australia in 2017, she has performed at top festivals including Port Fairy, Woodford, and The National. Her music explores migration, belonging, and identity with warmth and grit.
This performance is part of her national tour Ebb and Flow: Songlines of the Diaspora, supported by Culture Ireland.
