King Edward Memorial Hospital offer this free* 2.5 hour IN-PERSON Baby Care Workshop to pregnant people who are birthing at King Edward Memorial Hospital or Osborne Park Hospital.

Please note: To save you time and avoid double-booking, please be aware that the same content listed below is covered in our IN-PERSON 'Preparing for Birth and Baby Course', or our ONLINE Baby Care workshop. 

Please DO NOT book both classes as they will be duplicate sessions. 

This workshop is practical in nature, involving demonstrations from experienced midwives, allowing for opportunities to practice skills in regards to all aspects of baby care. 

CONTENT

This workshop discusses and demonstrates how to care for their newborn baby, taught by experienced and knowledgeable midwives.

Topics include :

• Early communication with your baby
• Playing, holding and settling your newborn
• Safe infant wrapping and swaddling
• Safe infant sleeping
• Nappy changing
• Bathing and dressing your baby
• Baby wearing
• Recognising an unwell infant

The content in this class is the same content covered in the ONLINE equivalent 4-week parent education course run by our department. 

ELIGIBILITY

• Birthing under the Women's and Newborn Services (King Edward Memorial Hospital, Family Birth Centre or Osborne Park Hospital)

RECOMMENDED GESTATION TO BOOK

• We recommend booking a class for when you are 28 - 36 weeks

LOCATION

This class is held IN-PERSON, between 1:30pm and 4:00pm within our Parent Education Department for pregnant people and their support person. 

Instructions on how to attend our department will be emailed out to you a few days before your scheduled session.

TICKET INSTRUCTIONS

• You only need to book 1 ticket - support people do not need their own ticket.

• When booking, please use the pregnant person's name and Medical Reference Number (see Image Below). This can be found on your handheld pregnancy record.
