Hear about the ways this life-sustaining force has influenced the topography, architecture, and the social and creative life of this state significant place.Dr Sarah Luke speaks about Dr F. Norton Manning’s maritime experiences on HMS Esk. Dr Manning is well known as one of the driving forces behind the establishment of Callan Park Hospital. But what was his life like prior to his arrival in NSW? Manning’s early medical career in England was difficult and soon after graduating he ran away to sea, becoming an assistant surgeon on the British Navy’s HMS Esk.
