In August, the Ramona book club will be reading The Book of Guilt, by New Zealand author Catherine Chidgey. Chosen for its eerie, evocative tone and incredible world-building - this is approachable dystopia and we're totally sucked in. Set in an alternate late 70s Britain, where WW2 ended without a winner, this is a look at a state's ability to dehumanise its society members and feels pressing with the global rise in fascism today.You have a month to read the book, then we'll get together to chat about what we liked, or didn't, over wine (or soft drinks) after dark in the bookshop. All are welcome, whether this is your first book club or fiftieth - it's our monthly get together of local readers. Tickets include the book, a drink on arrival and your place on the night.
