Sydney pianist/organist Steve Barry and Danish expat guitarist Kristian Borring co-lead this powerhouse trio. Hailed as “one of Australia’s most inventive and accomplished composer/improvisers” (Loudmouth), Barry’s work oscillates between contemporary jazz, cross-cultural practice and contemporary art music with a lyrical melodicism and distinctly modern harmonic sensibility recently heard on his acclaimed album In the Waves (2023).Rooted in the blues and amplified by influences from Brazil to Bartok, the music speaks to the photosynthetic power and dynamic colour of the Hammond organ and the liquid improvisatory agility of the trio format.
