Worming out the facts workshop

Workshop focus
Resistance to dewormers is a serious issue for our horse community. The impact of declining drug efficacy is already evident locally. While the science is clear, much of it isn’t reaching the people who need it most. We should be shifting our attitude to worms and how we manage them. These parasite management workshops are designed to share practical, research-backed information and recommendations, so the whole horse community can work together to slow the development of drug-resistant parasites.
About Leni Horner
Leni is an equine parasitologist that has dedicated several years to researching horse immune responses to small strongyles, a common yet challenging parasite for horse owners. Based in the Ballarat area, Leni possesses valuable insights into local parasite behaviour and dynamics.
Leni's passion lies in disseminating the latest research findings and guidelines to horse owners. By doing so, she aims to empower owners to implement effective parasite management programs. Her work focuses on promoting horse health, while ensuring the efficacy of deworming drugs, and addressing the critical issue of drug-resistant worm populations. Through education and practical strategies, Leni contributes to the long-term well-being of horses.
