How To Celebrate a Birthday in Space

VENUE: Napier 205
Description: Five estranged friends gather to celebrate a birthday by playing a table top role playing game. Each friend plays a different character in the game. The game is set on a spaceship voyage, which has the mission to discover new worlds that can support life. However, tragedy strikes the ship, when one member of the crew is found dead under suspicious circumstances. As the crew try to figure out if there's a murderer in their midst, the five friends also try to figure out how to repair their friendship...
Season: 7:30pm Friday 10th October, One Night Only!
Performance Venue: Scott Theatre, University of Adelaide
Rehearsals: Beginning late August through to the performance date, Tuesdays 6.30-9.30pm and Saturdays 11am-4pm. Note: We will require you for an additional rehearsal on the evening of Thursday 9th October.
Roles:
At the Table
Max, game master, runs the TTRPG and organised the game, somewhat unaware of the rift (the human player of RORY, STEVE, and ADAM)
Elliot, player, good friends with FRANCIS, lighthearted and happy person who wants to fix the friendship (the human player of JAIME)
Harper, player, close friends with QUINN, more of a follower and lacks solid moral compass (the human player of CAMERON)
Francis, player, ex of QUINN, stubborn, nerdy, and bitter towards QUINN and HARPER (the human player of BECCA)
Quinn, player, ex of FRANCIS, outspoken, social, and loves to be the centre of attention (the human player of AMY)
On the Ship
Captain Rory Hubble, Captain of SS Progress. Respected by the crew, a bit of a hopeless dreamer type.
Jaime Earhart, Pilot of SS Progress. Taciturn and grumpy, does not believe in the mission.
Lieutenant Cameron Sheridan, Lieutenant of SS Progress. Very prideful and follows rules to the letter.
Becca Hawking, Engineer of SS Progress. Shy but self-righteous. Best friends with Amy.
Dr. Amy Newton, Physician of SS Progress. Playful, energetic, and outspoken. Best friends with Becca.
Steve the Narwhal Shark, Alien stowaway. Came aboard at some unknown time, but the crew like him. NPC.
Adam 'Red' Herring, I.T. Guy of SS Progress. Kind of hates his job, best friends with Steve. NPC.
Additional notes:
The characters of Amy and Becca are involved in a kissing scene.
There may be doubling of cast (actor at the table may also play equivalent on the ship).
About Audition:
Upon booking, you will receive an email with a portion of the script for you to perform at your audition. You will also be asked to read some scenes with fellow auditionees. Each time slot is 50 minutes with 5 auditionees per slot.
