Spring School Holiday Sailing Camp
About
The holiday camp is designed to offer a fun introduction to the sport of sailing with the emphasis on fun. The program will be run by young people who are sailing members of the Club with experience in managing groups of novice sailors. There is also an appropriate number of qualified adult supervisors with qualifications in First Aid, Working with Children, Sailing Coaching.There will be a mix of activities including introduction to sailing, beach games, ball games, quizzes. A walk from the Club to Clontarf Baths is also planned during the three days and a trip via Club rescue boat to Chinaman’s Beach or Castle Rock for a short excursion is also anticipated.
Provided the weather is not considered unsafe, the plan is to include at least 90 minutes each day of time on the water in the Optimists class boats (also known as Poppies). The sailing area will primarily be in what is termed “the nursery” which is the area directly in front of the deck of the Club extending to the end of the Y
