25 Years of Deviation Road: A Sparkling Retrospective

About
Join us for a retrospective Masterclass celebrating 25 years of Deviation Road (Adelaide Hills), hosted by Kate Laurie, tracing the label’s journey from foundation to present day.
Established by Hamish and Kate Laurie, Deviation Road has earned a reputation for crafting complex, age-worthy sparkling wines through a distinctive blend of tradition and innovation. Decades of hands-on experience, both in Australia and internationally, have shaped their approach and secured their standing among Australia’s leading sparkling winemakers.
Originally from Western Australia, Kate’s winemaking journey began in France, where she studied at the prestigious Lycée Viticole d’Avize in Champagne. This classical training laid the foundation for her precise, méthode traditionnelle style. With over 20 years of experience in both hemispheres, Kate brings deep technical expertise and a fearless spirit of experimentation to every bottle.
In this masterclass, Kate will guide you through three curated flights featuring museum releases, current vintages and rare, long-aged cuvées—including verticals of the acclaimed Loftia Vintage Brut and Beltana Blanc de Blancs. A final flight of still wines delves into the nuances of Chardonnay, the cornerstone of Deviation Road’s sparkling program.
Each wine reflects the evolution of the house’s craft and unwavering commitment to excellence over the past quarter of a century.
