Our talented Year 11 Drama students are excited to present Bertolt Brecht’s The Caucasian Chalk Circle, a bold and thought-provoking tale of justice, sacrifice and what it means to truly care.Set during a time of revolution, the play follows Grusha, a servant who risks everything to protect an abandoned child. Years later, a dramatic courtroom battle decides who the child truly belongs to — the woman who gave birth to him, or the one who raised him. A chalk circle is drawn. The test begins.
This energetic and inventive production uses Brecht’s theatrical style, which includes direct address to the audience, live music, and storytelling techniques that make you think as well as feel. It promises to be a memorable and meaningful night of theatre.
