Bowness Photography Prize 2025: exhibition launch

Join us at MAPh to celebrate the 20th year of the William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize with the launch of the exhibition and the announcement of this year's winners.The winning artist will receive a $50,000 prize, and their work will become part of MAPh’s significant collection of Australian photographs. Two finalists selected for Honourable Mentions will receive $2500 each.
This year's judging panel is comprised of Shaune Lakin, Senior Curator of Photography at the National Gallery of Australia, Anne Zahalka, one of Australia’s most recognised photo-media artists, and MAPh Director, Anouska Phizacklea.
The event will also launch the Wai Tang Commissioning Award exhibition, graciously supported by Kee Wong and Stacey Wang. Deborah Paauwe is the fourth artist to be awarded the $10,000 commission, selected from the 2024 Bowness Photography Prize.
