Drown It Out: Messages of Support for LGBTIQA+ Youth
About
In a world where LGBTIQA+ people, especially young people, are facing growing hostility, community acts of care matter now more than ever.As we approach Wear It Purple Day (Friday 29 August), a day focused on creating safety and inclusion for LGBTIQA+ young people, this event invites ECU staff and students to come together and write messages of support and solidarity to LGBTIQA+ young people and the services that support them. Many of these organisations are run by LGBTIQA+ young people themselves, offering vital peer support in difficult times.
You'll have the opportunity to design a postcard using collage materials and write your message. We'll make sure it reaches the LGBTIQA+ young people and groups that support them.
• Open to all ECU staff and students (LGBTIQA+ folks & allies)
• No artistic experience needed
• All materials provided – just bring yourself
• Suggested organisations include: Freedom Centre, Our Place, PICYS, Youth Pride Network, Out South West
