On focused specifically on the word ‘Becoming’ as I hear it being used to refer to older persons. Becoming frail, confused, isolated, demented, lonely etc. Through the many changes of later and late life what enables us to become more? Not diminished but spiritually enriched? A woman living with dementia whom I had time with earlier this week used a wonderful phrase to describe to me what helped her. Her words were ‘enabling attention’! She shared a beautiful story of how her mother shaped her confidence in her early life
