Melbourne-based Irish banjo player and singer Maggie Carty presents an intimate solo performance of her debut album Ebb & Flow at the KADS, Perth on Friday 22 August 2025. This special performance invites audiences on a deeply personal musical journey through Irish folk tradition, reimagined with Australian folk influences, bluesy undertones, and transcontinental soul.Originally from Boyle in County Roscommon on the west coast of Ireland, Maggie is a fourth-generation musician who brings a fresh energy and a unique female voice to the tradition. Now living in Naarm or Melbourne, she blends rhythm-driven banjo playing with expressive vocals and draws contemporary inspiration from Americana and blues. Her music breathes new life into old songs while honouring the history and stories of the Irish diaspora. Since moving to Australia in 2017, Maggie has become a recognised voice in the national folk scene.
