SEVENTEENx is back in Perth for our annual event on 15 October, proudly hosted by ECU School of Business and Law.
Join us for an inspiring evening, where passionate speakers will share their work in alignment with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Innovative entrepreneurs, business owners, corporate leaders, startups, and other thought leaders will take the stage to inspire the business community and show them how they can drive change in their businesses and life.

The Speakers
All speakers are inspirational West Australians looking to show the community how to do things a little differently.
- Jane Hammond – Filmmaker and Environmentalist – LinkedIn Profile
Jane is an independent documentary filmmaker and lifelong environmental activist. She’s the creator of the critically acclaimed film Black Cockatoo Crisis and has led impactful campaigns such as Cry of the Forests, which was instrumental in ending native forest logging in WA by 2024. Jane uses storytelling to inspire change around climate justice and environmental preservation.
- Daniel Smith – Chief of Staff to Roger Cook & Founder of ReGen Strategic – LinkedIn Profile
With over 25 years of experience in government relations and strategic communications, Daniel has advised top leaders in both industry and government. He’s currently serving as WA Premier Roger Cook’s Chief of Staff and founded ReGen Strategic, where he drives sustainability and ESG initiatives. His work focuses on creating collaborative solutions for sustainable business practices.
- Olivia Chapman – CEO of WASEC – LinkedIn Profile
Olivia is a leader in social innovation, having led impactful programs like large-scale future-of-work initiatives in collaboration with Google. She returned to Western Australia after a successful career at Nesta, the UK’s innovation agency, and now leads WASEC, a network focused on supporting entrepreneurs and initiatives that prioritise both people and the planet.
- Prof Sharath Sriram – Chief Scientist of WA – LinkedIn Profile
Prof Sriram is a renowned expert in nanoelectronics and medical technologies. As the Chief Scientist of WA, he advises the state government on advancing technology and innovation. His work has led to the development of breakthrough technologies in healthcare, including the prototyping of medical devices. He is also an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the scientific community.
