Burrawang Cup & John Heath Memorial Trophy Golf Day
About
Burrawang Cup & John Heath Memorial Golf Day – A Local Tradition Since the 1990sThe Burrawang Cup and John Heath Memorial Golf Day has been a much-loved fixture in our village calendar for more than three decades.
What began in the early 1990s as a friendly round of golf between Marc Chapman, Barry Lowe and a few mates has grown into one of our most anticipated social events. In those early days, the gathering was as much about meeting new faces in the village as it was about the game itself. New arrivals were warmly welcomed, friendships were formed, the tradition took root and fables became legend.
The Burrawang Cup itself has its own colourful history. The solid brass cup was unearthed from the storeroom of the Burrawang Village Hotel some 30 years ago. It was originally awarded as the Challenge Cricket Trophy and then repurposed for the golf day. It is now proudly engraved with the names of the past three decades’ champions, each a custodian of this quirky piece of local sport
