Swirling Flame: album launch by Elysian Fields
Elysian Fields, Australia’s only electric viola da gamba band, returns to SIWJF to celebrate the release of Swirling Flame, their third album. Building on the ensemble’s previous releases, the album is a bold fusion of jazz, baroque, contemporary classical and folk influences—anchored by the haunting resonance of the rarely-heard 7-string electric viola da gamba.
The evening will begin with a performance by Austral Baroque (electric harp & electric viola da gamba duo) featuring leading harpist, Louise Johnson – for many years the principal harpist for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra - and viola da gambist, Jenny Eriksson, in genre-defying electric mode!
$30/$15, and BYO food and drink. Doors from 7.30pm, music from 8pm!
