Nature Recovery and Renewal After Fire

About
As part of the Montrose Environmental Group’s Annual General Meeting, this talk and presentation will explain how nature recovers, and the stages it goes through, after fire and what actions people should or shouldn't take in response. You'll hear about the fire that took place in Dr Ken Leversha Reserve in March 2025 in the context of major bushfires, prescribed burns and the previous bushfire in the reserve in 1987. This is also an opportunity for local residents to share their own experiences.VCCEM representatives will be at this event.
Speaker
Dr Graeme Lorimer is an environmental scientist with almost 40 years’ experience in fire ecology who has served on fire prevention committees, collaborated with Council and Montrose Fire Brigade to organise planned burns and has assisted traumatised residents in the wake of bushfires.
A guided walk through Ken Leversha Reserve will take place on Sunday 21 September - please book separately.
