Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang is a hilarious and poignant comedy that playfully riffs on themes and characters from the works of Anton Chekhov.
It won the Tony Award for Best Play in 2013 starring Sigourney Weaver, David Hyde Pierce and Billy Magnussen.
This will be the South Australian premiere production.

AUDITION IS BOOKED BY ONLINE APPOINTMENT ONLY
- Auditions are booked in 1-hour blocks and auditionees will be seen individually during that time. Timing of audition length will vary subject to direction and roles considered.
- Some workshopping/improvisation may be utilised.
- Auditionees are encouraged to play with the comedy and Chekhov stylistic references to demonstrate skills in these areas.
- After booking an audition, you will be emailed some scenes from the play and an audition form.
To prepare for your audition, please:
- Prepare a short monologue of your choice with a comedic/observational tone (similar flavour to a contemporary comedy such as this one).
- Familiarise yourself with the additional scenes from the play (emailed to you) to gauge your suitability for the above characters (these are not compulsory to learn).
- All characters have middle-American accents.
On booking an audition slot, please ensure you advise your correct phone number and email address.
Auditions are open to everyone aged 18 and over. You do not need to be associated with The University of Adelaide to audition.
You do not need to be a member of the Theatre Guild to audition, but if successful, you will need to become a member (min. cost $15).
