Join Drama Queensland at the Powerhouse on Friday 24 October to connect with colleagues, grab a drink, and see The Lucky Country, a critically acclaimed new musical. With an original score inspired by Australian greats (Baker Boy, Jimmy Barnes, Kylie, The Seekers, Electric Fields and more), this 65-minute mixtape of Aussie stories is a funny, heartfelt celebration of identity and belonging. Featuring six outstanding performers and a five-piece band (including yidaki), the show offers a joyous ride with depth. Afterward, stay for a Q&A with co-creator and performer Vidya Makan (Hamilton, SIX) about the creative process and making theatre with social comment.

On Saturday morning, join Scott Andrews and director/co-creator Sonya Suares at Churchie for a half-day workshop. Using The Lucky Country as stimulus, participants will scaffold the devising process, explore conventions, and develop an exemplar IA2. Sonya will also share expertise in lyric writing and creating dramatic action.
