Dr. Jodi Mullen: Play Therapy for Traumatised Children

About
Children who experience trauma, whether from domestic or community violence, medical or sexual abuse or profound loss often struggle to fully express their experiences through words alone. Play therapy provides a developmentally attuned and clinically powerful approach for connecting with traumatised children in ways that respect and validate their lived realities. This training provides mental health professionals with the core principles and practices of play therapy with an emphasis on building rapport, fostering emotional safety, and facilitating therapeutic expression.
Participants will explore the healing principles of play therapy in the context of childhood trauma, with attention to developmental stages and the cultural contexts relevant to children and families. The workshop will also highlight practical considerations for implementing play therapy in diverse settings, including schools, private practice, and community-based services
