Coventry Press presents Glenn Loughrey featuring Fiona Boyes, with poetry reading from “birra-bina-birra yaryanbuwaliya yandu”.Glenn Loughrey offers his writings as a record and reflection of a lifetime's struggle to express his identity and his sense of belonging in a conflicted society.
Confronting to some, his writings challenge us to consider an outlook from an Aboriginal perspective.
Experience the ongoing story of his journey into a greater understanding what Aboriginality truely encapsulates.
With guest speaker, John G White who has written Making Australia Fair, where he challenges our current social identities, largely inherited from British institutions and based on privilege, wealth and power. And he contrasts this with traditional Aboriginal models, with their focus not on the individual but the community.
This event is for all who want to understand Aboriginality through poetry and talks from the authors who will be showcasing their art in words.
