Lightning Ridge holds an Opal and Gem Festival every July, and one of the highlights is the Opal Queen Ball where the ladies compete for the coveted title of Opal Queen. The 'Potch Queen' event is a total parody of the glamorous Opal Queen Ball.Potch is common opal with no play of colour so it befits the event. It is a time for the men of the Ridge to go all out also, with a difference - they dress as women - beards and all.
A fun night of belly laughs and seriously not PC.
The 2025 Potch Queen Ball theme is WILD WEST.
The event will be held at the Lightning Ridge Outback Resort on Saturday 1st November 2025, commencing at 8pm (doors open 7pm).
This is a STRICTLY 18+ event.
Security will check ID before entry.
Tickets are non-refundable.
All the proceeds from the night help fund the 2026 Lightning Ridge Easter Festival.
