2025 Melbourne University Open Rapid Tournament

Format: Swiss Tournament 7 Rounds

Venue: Melbourne Chess Club (62-66 Leicester St, Fitzroy VIC 3065)

Schedule: Sunday 12th October 12 noon. Round 1 will commence at 12 noon.

Rate of Play: 13 minutes + 2 seconds increment from move 1

Ratings: ACF Quick and FIDE Rapid rated

Forfeit Time: Any player who arrives at the board after their time has elapsed will lose the game 

Byes: 2 half-point byes may be taken from Rounds 1-5

Entry Fee: $35 full; $30 for concessions & Melbourne University Chess Club (MUCC) members; GMs, IMs, WGMs & WIMs free; FMs and WFMs free if MUCC member.

 Regulation:

If you and your opponent from the published pairings are both at the board at the start of the round you will play each other. Should one or both players be missing at this time, players may be repaired or given a bye as determined by the Chief Arbiter. Organisers cannot cater and plan for every contingency however will aim to be as flexible as possible, whilst still aiming to commence the tournament on time. The Chief Arbiter reserves the right to accept additional entries after the official closure if it assists the event overall. These players will be added manually and paired as necessary, which could be after round 1.
