Scottish Country Dancing for new dancers

This course is for anyone wanting to learn the social dancing of Scotland, as done at balls, weddings and ceilidhs.
You don't need a partner, a kilt or a Scottish accent - and you certainly don't need any previous experience.

You will be introduced to Jigs and Reels and will learn a series of lively, beginner friendly dances.

Eight Week Course (7 April to 26 May)

Classes run for 90 minutes, every Tuesday evening, from 7:00pm – 8:30pm
(Please arrive at 6:45pm on the first night)

Course fee: $160 for the eight week course, which includes a ticket to our Chaotic Ceilidh® on Saturday 16 May.

DRESS: Please wear a pair of soft soled shoes, so that you can feel the floor under your feet. Dress comfortably - skirts, shorts or loose trousers will give your legs more freedom when you're flying along!

Scottish Country Dancing – Why would you do it?

A late 1990s BBC documentary exploring the question of 'what makes people happy' concluded that the activity generating the greatest degree of happiness in its participants was Scottish country dancing. 'The aerobic demands of this type of dancing are considerable, and enthusiasts of all ages tend to be physically fit. So here is a hobby that is officially more fun than sex and also better exercise. What's more, you are not only allowed to change partners - it would be impolite not to.”
