Earth Hour Planting Day - Jordans Crossing, Bundy Dog Park
About
Earth Hour is celebrated across the globe every year usually in the third week of March. Following the success of last years first Earth Hour Planting day in Bundanoon, we will be expanding on the planted area this year. Jordans Crossing in Bundanoon is well known as an area that has pockets of threatened ecological communities, that is a collection of plants that collectively are known as the Southern Highlands Shale Woodlands (SHSW). Last year we added more plants that sit within the SHWS species list to assist in reconnecting disconnected areas of habitat. There is still plenty of space around the dog park for us to increase the planting, improving the biodiversity and continuing to improve the ecological significance of the region.
In addition to SHSW species we will add some Casuarina species essential for Glossy Black Cockatoos as habitat and food trees.
Best places to park is on the oval, access is via Ellsmore Road. If there has been significant rain before the event, parking will not be possible on the oval. Best alternative options are Bindar Cres, or there is plenty of parking at Bundanoon Bowling club and is only a short lovely walk through the woods.
Sausage Sizzle included, please specify if you are vegetarian.
A reminder with an update will be sent out a few days before the event to advise on parking directions and expected weather.
