HAL cordially invites you to the 2025 HAL Oration (VIC Chapter). The topic is “Challenges of Legal Advocacy before the Courts-Changing Times" delivered by the Hon. Chris Kourakis - Chief Justice of South Australia.
About our speaker:
The Honourable Chief Justice Kourakis was admitted to practice in 1982. His Honour was called to the bar in 1987 and took silk in 1997. His Honour served on the Legal Services Commission for the State of South Australia from 1993-1997. He was the Solicitor-General for the State of South Australia from 2003-2008. His Honour was appointed to the bench of the Supreme Court of South Australia in 2008 and then appointed as Chief Justice in 2012. His Honour is the National Patron of the Hellenic Australian Lawyers Association. His Honour was Chairperson of the Judicial Council on Cultural Diversity from 2014 until 2018. Chief Justice Kourakis was Chair of the National Judicial Council of Australia from 2020 to 2024.
