German apple and pear cakes

Apple cake (or ‘Apfelkuchen’) is one of the classic German cakes. It comes in many different variations, and many regions in Germany offer their own specialties. Pears are an almost equally popular fruit. The Adelaide Hills are one of the main apple and pear growing regions in Australia. So, this very popular class is devoted entirely to baking a variety of my favourite apple and pear cakes. These include a ‘sunken’ apple cake, apple, rhubarb & orange tartlets with butter crumble and a pear loaf with spices or toasted walnuts.
Apart from being fun, the class is designed to provide you with the skills and confidence to replicate each recipe at home. A small class size (with a maximum of 6 participants) ensures plenty of opportunity for questions and one-on-one conversations to maximise your learning experience.
