K-2 CHESS
Learn the fundamentals of chess on your first step towards becoming a chess champion! Each class starts with an interactive lesson and then the children have the opportunity to put their newly learned strategies into practice, in games played against each other. Receive personal feedback from the coaches to improve your play.

 K-2 lessons will follow our coaching curriculum, where lessons are taught starting from the basic rules, movements, check and checkmate, and moving on to essential checkmate patterns and tactics. There will be lots of traps taught to catch out your opponents, and puzzles given to engage both your creative and logical thinking skills.

ROBOTICS YEAR 2

Year 2 students learn fundamental design principles, using Lego Spike to create different types of vehicles, carnival games and buildings. They use Block Code to make their robots move, learning simple programming concepts such as <> statements and loops.

ROBOTICS YEAR 1

Year 1 students are invited to learn a fundamental design principle each week, by using Lego Spike to create a mechanical solution to a simple, fun problem. Students will learn the basics of Robotics programming in Block Code.

TAEKWANDO K-2

Our Little Wyllie Warrior Curriculum is designed for students in Kindy to Year 2. It covers the White Belt material and some of the Yellow Belt material from our Taekwondo program intertwined with additional character values like respect for oneself and others, self-discipline and facing challenges designed to develop greater resilience.

Little WW’s have the chance to earn 7 belts in the program. At the end of the program, when a student is around 7 years old, they can matriculate into the Senior Taekwondo (Years 3-12) program at Yellow Tip Belt, or Yellow Belt depending on achievement with the Little Wyllie Warriors Program.

Our Taekwondo program is one of the sports in Barker’s Middle and Senior School so whatever belt level the student attains in the Junior School will be recognised at that level if they wish to continue in high school.
