What’s involved, safety, and more:
Fun Nature Exploration and Learning: Every adventure in nature reveals a new surprise, be it the beauty of captivating flora, the diversity of fauna, or the wonder of intriguing fungi. Each activity is crafted for a specific age group, and younger and older siblings can join at no cost under your supervision, with the understanding that the delivery level may not be suited for them. Please note that many of our bushland reserves contain rough and uneven ground and are not always suitable for prams.
Water and Snacks: Please ensure your child brings a water bottle and consider having a healthy snack on hand in case energy levels are low. If bringing snacks, please bring nut-free snacks. If there are allergies to be mindful of for your child, especially severe ones, please inform our activity leader.
Child-Centric Care: Your child's safety and well-being are paramount. Any specific needs or concerns? Our team is ready to assist. If you and your child need to leave early during an activity, please let our activity leader know.
What to Wear: Comfortable clothes for outdoor conditions and play. Remember: hats, sunscreen, and closed shoes are crucial. (Sandals can be worn for beach activities but are unsuitable for all of our bush-based activities). Spare clothes for wet play/accidents are recommended.
Weather: Check the weather forecast on the morning of each activity. Come rain or shine, our adventure thrives! However, on severe weather warnings and extreme fire danger days, activities are canceled, and refunds are given—so keep an eye on your emails. Always note that any mountain (kunanyi/Mt Wellington) activity means the weather can be 10 degrees cooler than in the city.
Check-In: Look out for our Bush Adventures banner and friendly activity leader. No ticket printouts are required. For personal cancellations, please notify us via email bushadventures@hobartcity.com.au or text at 0417-404-664.
Share & Inspire: Post your memories using #BushAdventures. Promotional pictures may be taken of this event. If you'd prefer no group snaps of your child, let our activity leader know.
Safety and Risk Acknowledgment: Outdoor adventures have inherent risks: uneven ground, unpredictable weather, encounters with wildlife, potential allergens, or injuries from natural obstacles. You must understand these risks. Gear up your child appropriately and share any specific concerns. We're equipped for emergencies, including first aid kits and EpiPens for known anaphylaxis threats. Questions about safety? Reach out.
Indemnity: By booking, you recognise the risks in such activities. The Hobart City Council and its employees are not liable for any claims, costs, actions, or demands arising from your child/children participating in the Bush Adventures Program.
