Celebrate Melbourne’s coffee culture on Sunday 9 Nov through photography, history and film. Begin with a coffee at Coffee Machine Technologies (285 Lygon St, Carlton) and explore 'Melbourne Through the Coffee Cup', the opening of a free exhibition by Peter Casamento with words by Sandra Makris. Documentary images honour Carlton’s coffee trailblazers, alongside contemporary café and street scenes, reflecting how Melbourne built its reputation as the coffee capital of the world. Part of Head On Photo Festival.The opening continues at 2:30 pm sharp at Cinema Nova with an exclusive return screening of 'Lygon Street: Si Parla Italiano'. Narrated by Anthony La Paglia, the film uses archival material and interviews to explore Carlton’s Little Italy, showing how post-war Italian migrants brought espresso, food and resilience. A Q&A follows.
Tickets include entry at Cinema Nova and a coffee from Coffee Machine Technologies, redeemable on the day between 9 am and 2 pm. Seats are limited.
