Victorian Fabians Annual Dinner 2025
Australia has long celebrated the ‘Fair Go.’ But for today’s young Australians, that promise is slipping away. From insecure work to an unforgiving housing market, today’s youth are facing challenges their predecessors didn’t. Join us for a thought provoking evening with Economist Alison Pennington, author of "Gen F’d?", to consider what’s gone wrong and, crucially, what we can do to reclaim a fairer future for all.
Alison Pennington is an Economist, Author, researcher and political commentator. She is Senior Research Fellow in Politics, Philosophy and Economics at La Trobe University and has authored the book "Gen F’d?: How Young Australians Can Reclaim Their Uncertain Futures" (Crikey Reads/Hardie Grant).
Alison has worked in senior roles to two Ministers for Employment and Workplace Relations, the Hon Tony Burke MP in 2022-24 and the Hon Senator Murray Watt in 2024-25. She was also formerly a Senior Economist at the Centre for Future Work at the Australia Institute.
