Sharpen Your Research Skills (Online)
Are you ready to take the next step in your family history journey? Learn how to sharpen your research skills and take yourself from a hobbyist family historian to the level of a professional genealogist with this workshop!
Join us for this intermediate course and develop your analytical research abilities. This course will teach you how best to approach your genealogical investigations, track your research, and cite your sources. We will introduce you to fundamental research skills and international professional genealogical standards, share tips and tricks from experienced researchers, and work through practical examples of analysing the accuracy of documents.
You will learn about Boolean searching, the FAN club, utilising Ancestry's card catalogue and FamilySearch collections, how to use maps and how to gain the historical context that will guide your research. And much more!
This seminar will be held over three online sessions.
- Sunday 17th May at 10:00 am - 2:30 pm (workshop 1)
- Sunday 24th May at 1:00 am - 2:00 pm (optional drop-in session)
- Sunday 31st May at 10:00 am - 2:30 pm (workshop 2)
Each workshop session will include a break for lunch as well as interactive activities.
This event is Zoom only, with limited places, so our presenters can give their full attention to the online attendees. Handouts will also be provided digitally before the event. No recording will be made and no refunds will be given for non-attendance without notice.
